This is my official address to where letters and packets should be sent, the location of my office. For the ease of use, I give it both in English and Chinese. Also, this is the address on the address sticker prints given above.

Travel Information

It is relatively easy to get to Héféi and to my place from basically anywhere in the world. There are three approaches which I can recommend for getting to Héféi:

1. Take an airplane to Běijīng [北京], the capital of China and, from there, an airplane to Héféi. This is maybe the easiest way.
2. Take an airplane to Shànghǎi [上海] and from there, a train to Héféi. Your airplane will likely arrive in Shànghǎi Pǔdōng International Airport [上海浦东国际机场, Shànghǎi pǔdōng guójì jīchǎng] whereas the trains likely go from Shànghǎi station or Hóngqiáo [虹桥] station – and it will take around two hours to get there from the Shànghǎi Pǔdōng International Airport. If you arrive at Hóngqiáo Airport [上海虹桥机场, Shànghǎi hóngqiáo jīchǎng], it would be ideal, though, because then you are very close to the Hóngqiáo train station.
3. A third (even more complicated) option is taking the route via Nánjīng [南京]. Although Nánjīng is closer to Héféi, as far as I know, there is no direct flight or bus from its airport to Héféi. You would need to go to the Nánjīng train station by bus first, which is about 50km/2.5h away from the airport. From there, you can take a train (1h) or another bus to Héféi.

For finding good airplane connections, I recommend the websites expedia.de, ctrip.com, and flug.de. Train tickets can be booked via chinabahn.com, chinatraintickets.net, or travelchinaguide.com for example.

Anyway, once you arrive at the Héféi railway station or airport, just take a taxi to the West Campus of the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). Here, printing the address stickers given below may be helpful: you can show them directly to the taxi driver. Make sure to emphasize that you want to the east gate [东门, Dōng mén] of the West Campus [西区, Xiqū] of the USTC at Feixi Road [肥西路, Féixi Lù]. The thing which you should say to the taxi driver is approximately:

Address Stickers

If you want to send me a letter or a packet, it would be good to write my address onto in Chinese, since I reside in China. If you are outside of China, you should also write the address in your mother language, so that both mail systems can deal with it properly. Since writing Chinese characters may be tricky, I provide sticker blueprints with the right information in both English and Chinese. They also work if you are in Germany. So you just

1. Download the ZIP-archive with the sticker blueprints: sticker prints (5 MiB, version: 2011-02-12)
2. unpack the archive using, e.g., WinRAR,
3. choose the address sticker in the file format you like most and print it,
4. cut it to the right shape and glue it to the packet or letter.

Then, I should receive your mail safely within two weeks.

German Home Address

My German home address is, actually, the address of my parents. I will (hopefully) be there around one time per year. If you are based in Germany and want to send me something with low urgency, you may send it to there instead.
